Implementation began in June 2014 and was completed in February 2015 as planned in eight months.
The implementation project added software to a solution for long-term distribution network planning that Caruna had previously acquired from Trimble. Trimble NIS is now Caruna's main system for network planning and maintenance. The implementation also included software for network investment management, enabling Caruna's investment programs to be managed and individual investment projects to be planned, monitored and analyzed.
− By investing in the electricity network and maintenance, we are able to stay compliant as reliability requirements are on the increase, even in the event of challenging weather conditions, says Sauli Antila, Caruna's Head of Network Development.
− We consider the implementation of the new network information system to be a business development project rather than an IT project. Thanks to the rapid implementation, we are able to ensure efficient asset management and the ramp-up of investments, Antila continues.
The project to implement the new network information system was prioritized at the highest level in Caruna.
− Trimble's standard applications and the strong commitment of both parties to the implementation plan were key factors in completing the project on budget and within a very tight schedule," says Mikael Mickelsson, IT Development Manager at Caruna.
− In terms of scale and schedule, this implementation project was unique. I would like to thank the numerous people involved in the project from both organizations, says Regional Sales Manager Jukka Leppänen from Trimble.
