SWITCH PLACEMENT
Find optimized switch locations and add new switching devices to your existing medium-voltage network. Network Optimizer adds new manual and remote disconnectors and reclosers to your network in order of priority based on reducing outage costs.
SWITCHING STATE OPTIMIZATION
Optimize the states of existing switches for normal open points or in contingency planning.
What makes our solution unique is that it is integrated with a network information system where the digital twin of the utility network is modeled. This allows the user to analyze the network using different tools, as consumption data and every line and switching device, for example, share the same digital twin.
Switch placement
Network Optimizer can find optimal new locations and types for medium-voltage switching devices. Decision regarding new switches is based on reduction of interruption cost.
Switching state optimization for normal operation
Network Optimizer aims to find the best possible network switching state for normal operation. This is being carried out by adjusting the normal open points of the network. The objectives and constraints are always selected by the user. For example, reducing losses can be chosen as a target.
Switching state optimization for contingency (N-1)
In contingency, in contrast to normal operation, one of the main transformers is considered unavailable. Configurations can be applied similarly. For example, load grades of lines and transformers can be selected as objectives.
Switch optimization delivers the end state for the best switching state that it finds. A switching list with the correct switching order can be further produced in the utility's distribution management system.
